Celts unable to afford Bellamy

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that any chance of bringing Welsh international Craig Bellamy back to Parkhead now looks very remote as the Glasgow club simply cannot match the 80,000-a-week wages the player is able to command down south. The Northern Irishman was keen to gain the striker's services as part of a 3.5m deal. Lennon said: "It looks a very remote possibility now unless some sort of scenario comes up where he could come down a bit on wages." (The Sun)

• Celtic are second in line to sign Zimbabwean striker Knowledge Musona despite having had an offer accepeted by Kaizer Chiefs. The South African club have also accepted an offer from German outfit Hoffenheim and will give them priority as their bid was received first. (The Herald)

Ortiz urges Cuellar to join him at Ibrox

New Rangers signing Juan Manuel Ortiz yesterday urged fellow Spaniard Carlos Cuellar to join him at Ibrox having revealed he turned to the Aston Villa defender for advice when the SPL champions came calling. The midfielder, who moved to Ibrox from Almeria, said: "When the chance came up to come to Rangers, I spoke to Carlos about it and and he only had good things to say.

"Carlos is a good player and I know Rangers have been interested in signing him, so it would be good if it happened." (Daily Express)

Rangers to make 700,000 from Adam move to Liverpool

Rangers will rake in around 700,000 if, as expected, Charlie Adam completes a move from Championship side Blackpool to Liverpool. The former Rangers midfielder, who was sold to by the Ibrox club to Blackpool for 500,000 back in 2009, travelled to Merseyside yesterday for a medical and to agree personal terms after the English clubs reached an agreement believed to be in the region of around 7m. • Ex-Queen of the South star Bob Harris has been invited by manager Ian Holloway to train with Blackpool for a week, in the hope of gaining a move to the Championship side.

• Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd looks set to seal a 40,000-a-week move to Turkish side Eskisehirspor after the Super Lig outfit agreed a 1.75m fee with Middlesbrough. (The Sun)

• Lee McCulloch says he hopes to finish his football career at Rangers. The playmaker, who still has two years to run on his current deal, hopes to clinch another contract and end his playing days at Ibrox. McCulloch said: In my own mind, I'd love to finish my career at Rangers, that would be the ideal scenario.

• Colin Calderwood's future may yet lie with Hibernian after the in-demand manager received the backing of the club's chairman Rod Petrie. Calderwood, who has indicated his desire to return south, has been the subject of bids from both Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest. (The Scotsman)
