Kenny Dalglish belives Wilson has a long-term future at Anfield, the paper claims, but believes the 19-year-old defender would benefit from greater match practice after a frustrating first season in England.

Rangers will require defensive options due to the likely exit of Madjid Bougherra and uncertainty over the future of David Weir.

IZAGUERRE INJURY BLOW

CELTIC have ordered Emilio Izaguirre to return from international duty as he struggles to overcome a thigh injury (various papers).

The left-back was due to feature for Honduras in the Gold Cup tournament this month but Neil Lennon is concerned that playing on could make the problem worse and cause the defender to miss the start of next season.

"It's very painful," said Izaguerre. "I got a lot of criticism for coming but now Celtic have withdrawn me from the squad."

US OUTFIT UP RIORDAN OFFER

Derek Riordan has been warned that the offer of a two-and-a-half year deal from Houston Dynamo could be the best deal he will get this summer (The Scotsman).

The out-of-contract Hibs striker has been holding out for more money from the MLS club but with no other club close to making a firm bid for his services the pressure is growing on him to compromise.

"It's a good offer and a good opportunity," said one of the party involved in the negotiations.
