Celtic target Dutch defender

Celtic are weighing up a 1.5million offer for Stuttgart defender Khalid Boulahrouz. The 29-year-old Dutch international still has a year left on his contract with the Bundersliga side but they are ready to do business. The versatile player has already experienced British football during his time under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. (Daily Express)

• Wales international Adam Matthews has revealed the size of Celtic and their support was the key to him joining them ahead of pursuing a chance to play in the Barclays Premier League. The 19-year-old was unveiled by Celtic yesterday after signing a pre-contract in February, when his former club Cardiff had real aspirations of making the top flight. (The Scotsman)

• Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is poised to enter the race to sign highly-rated Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre. (The Sun)

Dundee United are preparing a surprise loan deal for Scotland international defender Grant Hanley. Diamond to learn fate

Zander Diamond will find out in the next 24 hours whether Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov will sanction his move to Tynecastle. The out-of-contract Aberdeen defender has agreed terms with the capital club but his move has been delayed over a problem with his previous ankle injury. (Daily Express)

Langfield to decide on future

Aberdeen boss Craig Brown will let goalkeeper Jamie Langfield decide when to resume his career. Langfield was released from hospital yesterday after suffering a seizure earlier this week. Mark Hughes walks out on Fulham

Mark Hughes resigned as Fulham manager last night despite having agreed terms on a new contract with the club, it has been claimed. Hughes' decision to activate a break clause in the two-year deal he signed with Fulham last summer will fuel speculation of a move to managerless Aston Villa. (Various)
