The Anorak: 10-11 Crewe to boost Christmas kitty

IT IS always a moral dilemma for me at this time of year whether to try and double the Christmas present fund or to tread a little lighter as I am a great believer in the old adage of never finding a winner when you really need one.

However, as a dedicated Anorak, I stayed up into the wee hours of Sunday to watch Crewe completely dismantle Preston at Deepdale on BBC’s Football League show. I was so impressed by the Railwaymen’s performance I was keen to see who they were playing next – and rubbed my hands with glee to see it was Bury, the latest “crisis club’” who not only have a transfer embargo and are in the bottom four, but they may have to return their loan signings by the time they arrive at Gresty Road today. Even if this doesn’t happen, The Shakers will have their work cut out to shackle future Premiership player Mathias Pogba, whose goal last week increased his goal tally to ten for the season, yet another reason to accept this early Christmas gift of 10-11 general.

Take Cardiff to beat Peterborough, Bournemouth to beat Colchester and MK Dons to beat Hartlepool – all look good things and a treble with most firms will pay around 13-8.
