Tevez and Toure accept punishments

Manchester CITY appear to be heading into smoother waters with Kolo Toure and Carlos Tevez, after the pair opted not to challenge club decisions.

Toure has accepted a fine of six weeks’ wages, while Tevez has chosen not to contest a misconduct charge. Toure was handed a six-month ban by the Football Association in May, backdated to March 2, after he tested positive for a prohibited substance. City’s fine came as a result of that.

A statement released by City last night read: “Manchester City Football Club can confirm that Kolo Toure has received a fine of six weeks’ wages which relates to doping offences committed by him earlier this year.”

City last month fined Tevez four weeks’ wages, later reduced to two weeks’ following intervention by the Professional Footballers’ Association, after a disciplinary panel found the player guilty of five breaches of contract relating to his behaviour on the bench during a match against Bayern Munich on September 27. It is understood the striker has not contested the ruling that he was guilty of misconduct.

Tevez was accused by manager Roberto Mancini of refusing to come on as a substitute during the second half of the 2-0 loss at the Allianz Arena.
