The 21-year-old will join on a loan deal if the move goes ahead and become the club’s 13th summer signing.

Rangers are also confident of landing Albanian winger Eros Grezda ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Manager Steven Gerrard has given assurances to Forest boss Aitor Karanka over Worrall, insisting that he plans on utilising the player most weeks.

Rangers are short at centre-back with no experienced cover behind Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic. Full-back Jon Flanagan was used in a back three against Motherwell.
