The former Celtic player has claimed that officials are running scared of Steven Gerrard because that’s the only reason he can see that would allow Rangers keeper Allan McGregor to escape punishment for lashing out at Kristoffer Ajer during the game against Celtic last weekend.

“Don’t get me wrong, there are positive signs at Ibrox and it looks like Gerrard has got the officials running scared with his comments on the opening day of the season about decisions going against Rangers.

“I can’t think of any other reason why Allan McGregor wasn’t done for kicking out at Kris Ajer. (Daily Record)

Celtic defender Marvin Compper not moving any closer to making first league appearance

Former Germany international Marvin Compper, who cost Celtic £1 million when they signed him from RB Leipzig nine months ago, has been left out of the club’s Europa League squad as he continues to struggle to get his career in Scotland going.

Assistant coach Chris Davies said: “Marvin has had a difficult time since he got here, with injury as well,” Davies added after Compper was left out of the 43-strong squad.

“He’s never quite got going or found his rhythm, that’s been a disappointment on his part.

“He just has to keep working hard and we’ll saw what happens.” (Daily Record)

A journalist has claimed Rangers summer signing Eros Grezda will eventually be worth £20million

Ermal Kuka, a journalist from Albania, believes that the price Rangers paid Croatian club Osijek for winger Eros Grezda was a steal and that the player will likely go for up to £20 million if and when de does eventually leave the Ibrox club.

“Rangers have got an absolute bargain,” Kuka said. “I was surprised they were able to get him for such a low price. I think that is a real steal.

“In two years, I can easily see them selling him for £20million, because it is different when you buy from Croatia or you buy from a club like Rangers.” (Evening Times)

Steven Naismith ready to stake his claim as a striker for Scotland

Steven Naismith insists he is ready to step in and shoot down Albania if Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths doesn’t pass late fitness test in time.

“Am I up for the job of filling in for Leigh if he doesn’t make Monday? Oh definitely, you can’t pick and choose where you play in the national team. But I do feel comfortable up there. I’ve done it at home against Croatia and many other times too. I’ll play where the manager wants me to.” (Mail Online)
