Students fight for survival as Welfare state intentions

Whitehill WELFARE beat Edinburgh University 2-1 in a Central Taxis Premier Division game which moved the Rosewell club to within a point of second-placed Stirling University with two games in hand, although they are still nine points behind leaders, Spartans.

Michael Bruce opened the scoring for Whitehill after 12 minutes before Scott McCulloch’s header doubled their lead on the half-hour mark.

However, the students gradually came to grips with the game and, seconds before half time, Cyrus Moosavi hit home an unstoppable dipping volley.
