Stirling’s title defence off to resounding start

Stirling University, the East of Scotland League Central Taxis Premier Division champions, started their title defence with a 4-1 away victory over Tynecastle, thanks to goals from Liam Corr, Paul Sludden and a late double from Chris Geddes.

In the Alex Jack Cup first-round ties, Heriot Watt University defeated Kelso United 6-1, Gretna 2008 beat Duns 2-1 while Craigroyston overcame Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale 4-2 on penalties after the sides had drawn 3-3 after extra time.

In the First Division, Leith Athletic beat Easthouses Lily 4-1, Eyemouth United defeated Berwick Rangers Reserves 4-2 and Ormiston drew 1-1 with Peebles Rovers.
