Stirling seal first win over Whitehill

Stirling University recorded their first-ever victory against Whitehill Welfare with a 2-1 away win thanks to a last-minute header from central defender Jason Atkins. Stirling were reduced to ten men late in the first half when captain Stuart Pearson was sent off although they took the lead when Chris Geddes netted from the penalty spot. Jim Young equalised for Whitehill, also with a spot-kick, before Atkins’ crucial late winner.

Spartans, the current champions, moved to the top of the Central Taxis Premier Division with a resounding 4-1 away win against Selkirk thanks to a hat-trick from Gavin Malin who has just returned from China where he was in the British Universities squad in the World University Games where they were narrowly beaten 2-0 by Japan in the final. Omar Kader also netted for Spartans while Euan Pritchard scored a late consolation goal for the Souters.

In the First Division, Heriot Watt University beat Berwick Rangers Reserves 2-1.
