Stirling Albion launch new official club t-shirt - with a curious Joe Biden twist

"Aberdeen man lost at sea” was widely understood to have been one Scottish newspaper’s take on the sinking of the Titanic in 1913.

Stirling Albion have launched a new commemorative t-shirt celebrating Joe Biden's victory in the Presidentia election and their own 5-0 win at Brechin City

The claim has since been debunked but the pursuit of a local angle for major news events continue. The Ayrshire Daily News carried a report on November 7 last year with the headline: “South Ayrshire golf club owner loses 2020 presidential election”, for instance.

Now, in a similar vein, Scottish League Two club Stirling Albion have launched an unlikely crossover t-shirt commemorating the club’s comprehensive victory against Brechin City last year as well as Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 US presidential election.

The t-shirt, available from the club's online merchandise store, carries a paragraph of text reading: “History will remember that at the moment Joe Biden was elected President of the United States, Stirling Albion were rattling in their fifth goal at Brechin.”

On November 7 2020 the Binos defeated ten-man Brechin 5-0 at Glebe Park with Declan Byrne "rattling in" the fifth goal after goals from Jack Leitch, David Wilson, Andy Ryan, and Scott Roberts had given the visitors a comfortable lead with the hosts a man short after Gregor Jordan's sending-off.

Kevin Rutkiewicz’s side currently sit joint-second of the fourth tier, level on points with Stranraer and Elgin City.

Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States of America later today, with the Forthbank side keen for football fans to remember their resounding victory in Angus while the former vice-president takes the oath in Washington D.C.

Never change, Scottish football, never change.
