Steven Whittaker '˜frustrated' with Hibs points despite solid return

Steven Whittaker is frustrated with Hibernian's points tally despite their solid return to the Ladbrokes Premiership.

The 33-year-old defender began a second spell at Easter Road in the summer following the Leith club’s promotion to the top flight after winning the Championship.

Neil Lennon’s side sit in fourth place with 26 points from 15 games, one point behind Rangers as they prepare for the trip to Partick Thistle on Saturday.

But the former Gers and Norwich City defender believes that their points tally could have been more impressive.

He told HibsTV: “If you look at the league table we are up there where we kind of expected to be and wanted to be so you can say that’s been achieved.

“But in some of the games I feel we have dropped points when we could have held on to them or approached the game a little bit better.

“So we are probably a little bit disappointed, we feel we should have a few more points on the board.

“But throughout the season there are going to be highs and lows and we need to maintain consistency and pick up as many points up on the way as we can.

“There are no easy games in the Premiership and if you don’t approach it in the right way it can sting you.

“An example of that was Hamilton at home when people probably expected us to get three points but we lost 3-1.

“So you can’t take anything for granted. We are learning as we go along so we need to keep a consistency of form which will keep us towards the top end.”
