A number of the new signings have already made a key impact with the club unbeaten this campaign. Hearts sit top of the league as the only team to have won both games in the Ladbrokes Premiership, while they have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Betfred Cup.

Midfielder Lee and goalkeeper Zlamal made key contributions during the weekend Betfrd Cup win over Dunfermline, while Haring and Ikpeazu have become fans favourites.

However, Naismith has been most impressed with veteran forward MacLean, signed from St Johnstone.

He told BBC Sportsound: “Over the years in Scotland, he’s a very intelligent footballer, he leads big Uche, the younger wide players, he leads the attack. When to press, when not, when to keep the ball, when to force a pass.”
