The Scotland cap is due to undergo an operation tomorrow after being taken to hospital following a 3-3 draw with the Edinburgh side at McDiarmid Park.

Davidson was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following the injury to his patella tendon, which he tore after going for a high challenge.

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright said: “He has torn the patella tendon. We will have a better idea of how long Murray will be out once he has had the surgery. He will bounce back but sadly he won’t play again this season.

“First and foremost it is desperately disappointing for Murray but it is also a massive blow to the team.”
