International breaks always provide the opportunity to sit back and take stock of how your season is going.

There is no denying the fact we are doing better this year than we were at the same point 12 months ago. We have four more points from the first round of league fixtures – with one game still to come against Rangers on Saturday – and at times the football is highly entertaining.

However, do we have what it takes to push on and make the top six, or at the very least avoid any involvement in the relegation scrap for the first time in years?

I think we do, but only if we can be a bit more incisive in the final third of the pitch and start taking our chances when they come along – starting with this weekend when we go to Ibrox.
