Danny Lennon’s desire to play an attractive style of football heavily reliant on possession and passing as admirable, however it isn’t going to work when you come up against a side that are quite happy to give you the ball while they assemble all 11 of their players behind it.

It surprised no one that Hamilton adopted that strategy on Saturday – that’s always been the way with Billy Reid’s sides – so it wasn’t a shock that we were unable to break them down. The replay will almost certainly be the same.

Losing both Jim Goodwin and Steven Thompson was a huge blow and, hopefully, they are back for the trip to Tynecastle – particularly Thompson as we really need him up front. A side that struggled to beat a junior outfit against a side that couldn’t beat a lower league team? Should be a thriller!
