SPL Fanzone: St Johnstone

So the McInnes era is over and it looks likely that Paul Cook, the Sligo Rovers boss, will take over at McDiarmid Park.

Some fans are already coming out with phrases like “underwhelming”, “who is he?” and “he’s coming from a poor league”. But, then again, that’s what the Bristol City fans were saying about Derek McInnes just a fortnight ago. We, of course, know better.

If Cook is to be the new man at the helm then he’ll have my full backing. He is said to play a brand of attacking football that focuses on his team’s strengths and, with the personnel he would have at his disposal, that’s certainly something I would be delighted to see.

Our next two matches – regardless of the manager – could, in my opinion, make or break our season. Home games against St Mirren and Aberdeen need to yield points if we’re to maintain our current position.
