THAT was a big win at McDiarmid Park on Saturday. We were on a slightly ragged run of form and, with Dunfermline battling for survival, it could easily have been a banana skin – potentially sending us spiralling towards the bottom six.

In the event, Dunfermline were never at the races and we were unfortunate not to win by a more handsome margin. Three times the woodwork was rattled while Chris Smith belied his bombscare reputation, pulling off a couple of good saves and being left helpless at the three goals.

The trip to Ayrshire to face Kilmarnock on Saturday is potentially even bigger. A win would all but secure our top-six slot with five games to play before the split. We need another big performance, and hopefully a few goals, if that’s to happen.
