SPL Fanzone: Dunfermline

The talk after the match with Hearts wasn’t so much about an improved performance but, instead, concerned a bulletin issued by the board.

Stating the club cannot sustain an SPL infrastructure on an average gate of 4,500 (it is actually 5,044), the board had conservatively (sic) anticipated gates of 6,000-7,000! The club would lose £320,000 over a season if they were 1,000 below that target. They also felt that season-ticket sales are “disappointing”. The reality is that, in the teeth of an economic recession, and the backdrop of having not won a home match this season, gates are 27 per cent up on last season and season-tickets are up 33 per cent. The board have called on fans to advise on increasing income and cutting costs. Getting the youngsters in the NW Stand to sit down so police costs can be reduced would be a start!
