SPL Fanzone: Dunfermline

EIGHT “cup finals” starting on Saturday with St Mirren, hopefully distracted and drained by a midweek cup tie. It will be a novelty to have an experienced manager and our largest squad since August. The fightback starts here.

The greatest indictment of this wretched season is that Pars supporters had become, not only resigned to relegation, but, frankly ambivalent. We don’t ask for much. An occasional cup run and a half-decent home record would suffice. Instead, we are the only team in Britain without a home win and we only had a cameo appearance in the cups.

It had long been apparent that Jim McIntyre could not cope at this level, although with no real budget, a tiny squad and a huge injury list there were extenuating circumstances. While grateful for last season, the board had to act as we have been haemorrhaging fans.
