SPL Fanzone: Dundee United

DUNDEE United beat Rangers. That’s an inexperienced Rangers with an average age of 24 and only six full internationalists.

If that is a valid excuse then why did they get beat by a Dundee United team which featured just the two internationals (with a handful of caps between them) with an average squad age just one year above that of Rangers?

Dundee United, like many other Scottish clubs, had to resort to playing their youngsters a long time ago, something which has resulted in the club being able to slash its debt by half.

Perhaps if Rangers hadn’t gone down the road that they had and instead followed the example of teams like United, they wouldn’t be in the royal mess they are in now.
