The slow realisation that we will soon no longer be able to call Pittodrie home began to dawn on many of us last week when the ground was officially put up for sale.

As much as most fans probably realise times change and we have to move on, Pittodrie holds such glorious memories for so many. Even the silverware-starved younger generation have had a small taste of the captivating European nights that this old ground has given, if not the massive top-of-the-table clashes that the older generation remember so well.

Pittodrie will be remembered for far more than the disdain seen and heard in the stands today. It will be a sad day indeed when we take the final walk back up Merkland Road.
