SPL Fanzone: Aberdeen

The season ended as it began, with a 0-0 draw, and that sums up where things went wrong – not enough goals. The match did mark the last game for a number of players and, although this is an annual occurrence, Darren Mackie’s departure is notable.

Darren had his testimonial season this year but he was a player who drew polar opposite opinions from fans. Once compared by Ebbe Skovdahl to Michael Owen, he didn’t quite make it to playing with the Galácticos but did score important goals for the club both domestically and in Europe.

His emotions confirmed that he is as much a fan as he was a loyal servant and, hopefully, he will not be out of the game for long. So Darren, thanks for everything and to misquote Bogart: “We’ll always have Dnipro.”
