Spartans power past City

Spartans maintained their position at the top of the Central Taxis Premier Division with a 3-1 away win against Edinburgh City at Meadowbank. Kerr Dodds, Gavin Malin and Keith McLeod scored their goals while Douglas Gair scored a penalty for City.

Stirling University kept the pressure on Spartans with a 5-2 win against Selkirk although they trailed by two early goals scored by Jamie Gibson and Ryan Clapperton. Stephen Hoyle (2), Chris Geddes(2) and Emott Parr-Gallagher ensured Stirling’s victory. Whitehill Welfare remain third after their 4-1 win over Vale of Leithen thanks to a hat-trick from Wayne McIntosh, and one from Andrew Sinclair. Tynecastle gave their new management team of brothers Tom and Shaun Steven a winning start, 2-1 against Lothian Thistle with youngster Josh Morris notching a double. Leith Athletic gained their first league win of the season with a 2-1 win over Civil Service Strollers.
