Spartans’ march on title continues
Fresh from last weekend’s Scottish Cup triumph over city rivals Edinburgh University, the Ainslie Park side were 2-0 up at the interval courtesy of Mark Whatley and John Grant – both finishing off moves with two clinical headers.
The hosts struggled to cope with their opponents and Spartans wrapped things up in the second half with Kevin Motion curling in a superb free-kick to make it three.

Hide AdDalbeattie Star moved into joint-second position after a resounding 9-1 blitz over struggling Selkirk at Islecroft while Vale of Leithen, who are level on 14 points with Dalbeattie, slipped to their second defeat of the season at Forthbank as they were crushed 4-1 at the hands of the University of Stirling.
Whitehill Welfare bounced back from last week’s defeat to Dalbeattie as they edged out Edinburgh City 3-1 in Midlothian.
The Ferguson Park side netted through Aaron Somerville and late strikes from Gareth Thom and Andrew Kidd while Peter Stenhouse netted for the visitors.
East Kilbride brought Preston Athletic’s fine run of late to an end with a 2-0 victory at K-Park while there was an absolute thriller in the Borders as visitors Gala Fairydean emerged 5-4 winners over Threave Rovers at Meadow Park.
