Spaniard snapped up by Livingston

Spanish striker David Fernandez rejected an 11th-hour bid by Kilmarnock, and joined First Division Livingston. He agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with Jim Leishman’s promotion hopefuls.

It would have been a hat-trick of buys of former Airdrie players for Kilmarnock, with midfielders Antonio Calderon and Jesus Sanjuan joining them earlier in the week. But Fernandez has former Diamonds team-mates at Almondvale - goalkeeper Sanchez Javier Broto and striker Paul McGoogan.

An entire squad of players have quit Airdrie in the past 10 days. Youngsters Darren Brady and Davie McGuire moved to Dundee United, while Miguel Alfonso and Salvador Capin joined Raith Rovers. Barry Elliott has gone to John Lambie’s rejuvenated Partick Thistle, but Paul Armstrong and goalkeeper Ramon Gonzalez have agreed to rejoin Airdrie.

First out of the club was Fabrice Moreau, who linked with former Dundee manager Jocky Scott at Notts County. Tero Pivli also moved to Notts County, and Martin Prest to Ross County.
