Shire miss their chance

WITH the other four games in the Third Division postponed, second-placed East Stirlingshire missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Livingston when they went down 1-0 at Annan.

The turning point in the game occurred ten minutes from half-time when David Dunn dived in to tackle Annan's Graeme Bell and referee Thomas Robertson branded a red card to the Shire player.

Shire manager Jim McInally, though, was unimpressed by Annan's conduct. He said: "At most it was a yellow card but they started shouting and one of their players ran 40 yards to complain. The referee got his card out far too quickly as well."

It was Bell who nodded in the winner from a Lewis Sloan corner four minutes into the second half.
