Shield Scots make the perfect start

FOOTBALL: Kieran Anderson-Ballantyne (Falkirk High School) and Lawrence Shankland (Bannerman High School) provided the goals as Scotland enjoyed the perfect start to the defence of the Charity Shield sponsored by Lloyds TSB Scotland.

Facing Northern Ireland at Toryglen’s Indoor Arena in Glasgow, the home side claimed a 4-0 victory over the side with which they shared the trophy last year.

Anderson-Ballantyne took less than a minute to snatch the first goal and Shankland made it 2-0 with a great header in the 26th minute. Shankland made it three with ten minutes remaining before Anderson-Ballantyne also grabbed his second.

Next up for Scotland are Wales, at Forfar on 15 March.
