Scougall fed up with the bad weather

Stefan SCOUGALL is desperate for tomorrow’s match against Partick Thistle – after the Livingston midfielder has seen three of the Lions’ last four games postponed.

Gareth Evans’ men still sit on the periphery of the division’s top sides this campaign but, after unpredictable results elsewhere in recent weeks, Scougall reckons there’s an opportunity for the Lions squad to launch a challenge.

He said: “It’s disappointing not to play the games, but there’s not much you can do about the weather. We’ve been turning up hoping games would be on, and to have them called off really puts a dampener on the weekend.

“We’ve got a big game on Saturday, but we’ve also got three in hand on Morton. You’d rather have the points on the board, of course, but it’s a good incentive for us to go out with and especially with everybody beating everybody.”

Livi’s last outing was a 1-1 draw at Cowdenbeath, where, after a sloppy start, the visitors battled back for a point.

Scougall added: “I felt in the first half at Cowdenbeath we were a bit scrappy. We didn’t really get going. But in the second half I thought we came out and passed the ball well on a tight, narrow and bumpy park.

“We could have said we ­deserved all three points, but Cowdenbeath hit the bar and the post, so a draw was ­probably the fair result.”

Thistle visit West Lothian tomorrow with a 100 per cent record against the Lions this season, but have picked up just one point from their past two league games.

And Scougall reckons tomorrow’s opponents are the best he has faced this season, with 2-1 and 2-0 wins for Jackie McNamara’s men in the previous ­outings – with the Glasgow team the last to win three points at Almondavle.

He said: “They like to play their football like we do. We’re not going to take anything for granted. We’re unbeaten in a few home games and it’ll be a good game, a hard game, but everyone’s looking forward to it and hopefully we can get a ­positive result.”
