Scottish Third Division Roundup

A roundup of all the action from yesterday’s third division action

Queen’s Park 3 - 2 Stranraer

Craig Malcolm gave Stranraer a 24th-minute lead but David Murray soon equalised. Chris Aitken restored the visitors’ lead before half-time but Murray levelled again before second-placed Stranraer’s Frank McKeown was sent off, after which Owen Ronald volleyed an 81st-minute winner.

Peterhead 3 - 2 Annan Athletic

Aaron Muirhead’s first-half double had given Annan a two-goal cushion at the break.

However, Craig Tully pulled one back in the 55th minute and a Martin Bavidge brace completed the turnaround for the hosts, who survived Rory McAllister’s late dismissal.

Montrose 2 - 3 Elgin City

A CRAIG Gunn hat-trick helped Elgin City to a 3-2 away win.

Gunn had given Elgin a sixth-minute lead before Montrose’s Terry Masson levelled. Martin Boyle cancelled out Gunn’s second before the Elgin striker completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute.

Berwick Rangers 0 - 2 East Stirlingshire

Joseph Dingwall curled the bottom-of-the-table visitors into an unlikely lead in the 40th minute.

Berwick toiled for an elusive equaliser but with six minutes remaining Andrew Stirling set up Kevin Turner to double East Stirlingshire’s lead and seal the points.

Alloa Athletic 1 - 0 Clyde

Alloa Athletic are now eight points clear at the summit.

Clyde’s Jamie Pollock should have opened the scoring early in the second half but volleyed over.

The visitors were punished in the 76th minute as Ross McKinnon crossed for Darren Young to score.
