Celtic’s 4-0 win over basement club St Johnstone took their unbeaten run to 18 games, Hearts dramatically conceded two injury-time goals to draw 2-2 with fellow relegation battlers Ross County and Dundee United’s last minute victory over Aberdeen ensured it was yet another week of drama in the Scottish Premiership.
Rounding off the fixture list for 2024, little has changed in terms of league position but Rangers fell further into the mire as they scrambled to draw 2-2 with Motherwell after falling two goals behind before the break, while Hibs continued their winning run with a 1-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Easter Road and Dundee emerged with an impressive 2-1 win at St Mirren.
However, who were the players who stood out for their teams this weekend? Who were the weekend heroes that ensured the year ended on a high?
Here, The Scotsman look at the XI players who were rated as the league’s best performing players this weekend, using player ratings from popular football website FotMob in a 4-3-3 formation, complete with live photos from the weekend’s fixtures.

9. CF: Kyogo Furuhashi - Celtic
The joint-highest ranking of the weekend is, of course, the goal-scoring Japanese hitman. Bagged a brace in the 4-0 win over St Johnston and was rated at 8.8 for his display. Took just nine touches in the game at Celtic Park, but managed to score twice. Efficient. | SNS Group

10. CF: James Wilson - Hearts
The 17-year-old striker put his hometown team on the course to victory with two excellent goals in the 2-2 draw with Ross County, only for the Staggies to strike twice deep into injury time. Rated at 8.7 for his performance at Dingwall, Wilson had a 100% shot accuracy rate, won all bar one of his aerial duels and was never dispossessed in the game. | SNS Group

11. CF: Simon Murray - Dundee
Another man to net a brace this weekend, the Dundee goal-getter ensured his team took all three points by scoring both goals in the 2-1 win over St Mirren. Had a 100% shot accuracy rate, created one chance for his team and even managed to help out at the opposite end with four defensive actions. His 8.8 rating makes him the joint-highest rated performer this weekend. | SNS Group
