While Scottish Premiership clubs are currently focused on navigating the choppy waters of the January transfer window, there are a host of players wondering what the future holds as they enter the final months of their contracts.
Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, and Hibs all have key players who are now able to discuss pre-contract agreements with other clubs. Meanwhile, cut-price deals are also being mulled over by clubs to ensure they don’t lose their players for nothing in six months.
While some may thrash out new deals in the coming weeks, others will depart for pastures new when the season ends. But who are the best Scottish Premiership players out of contract in the summer of 2026?

1. Ross Graham - Dundee United
The Tannadice skipper has had his injury issues this year, but remains an important part of Jim Goodwin's squad. He's currently Dundee United's long serving player, but sees his contract expire in the summer. Once tipped for a Scotland call up, he'd be an excellent pick up for many clubs. 2. Killian Phillips - St Mirren
Received plenty plaudits for his talismanic contribution to St Mirren's famous Premier Sports Cup win earlier this season, and has contributed immensely in Paisley since his arrival from Crystal Palace 18 months ago. Out of contract at the SMiSA Stadium in the summer, the 23-year-old will have plenty of suitors should he opt to depart the Buddies. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

3. David Watson - Kilmarnock
The 20-year-old playmaker enjoyed a rapid rise from the Rugby Park youth teams, winning the SWFA Player of the Year award for the 2023/24 season. Has rumoured interest from Celtic and Lazio, with a battle for his signature anticipated in the summer if he doesn't renew with Kilmarnock. | SNS Group

4. James Forrest - Celtic
Celtic's most decorated player, the veteran winger has been a prominent member of the champions' squad for almost two decades, winning 26 major trophies along the way. With his contract up in the summer, though, his long association with the Parkhead club could come to a close. Aged 34, the Scotland international will still feel he has a few years left in his legs. | SNS Group
