Scots non-league player nets stunning last minute goal

INVERURIE Loco Works captain Neil McLean netted what’s been described as “one of the greatest Scottish Cup goals ever” to earn his side a replay against Annan Athletic.

Veteran campaigner Peter Weatherson had just netted to put the visitors up 4-3 with less than a minute remaining of normal time.

However, straight from kick-off, McLean took the ball on a mazy dribble, evading the challenge of several Annan defenders before lofting an audacious effort over the goalkeeper that dropped into the net at the back post.

It was the captain’s second goal of the game and ensures they remain in the hat for today’s draw.

The replayed game will be scheduled for this coming Saturday at Annan’s Galabank Stadium.
