Scotland to wear tartan and pink kits for World Cup qualifiers

The Tartan Army will reflect their much used moniker and wear blue tartan home tops with white sleeves, along with white socks and dark blue socks.

When away from home, the players will don bright pink tops with a touch of black around the collar, while the shorts and socks are black with a hint of pink.

The kits are made by Adidas, and were launched under the slogan #BeTheDifference.

However, the kits certainly divided opinion, with some people taking to social media to air their views.

James Melville tweeted: “Dear Santa, I want to cancel my son’s request for a new Scotland kit. It isn’t fit for purpose. Many thanks, James.”

Iain Macintosh directed his message to the Scottish FA, stating about the away kit: “You’ve made them look like a team of boiled sweets again, you mad b******s.”

Adam Clark added: “Don’t you know us gingers canny wear pink?”

But there was more love for the tartan home kit, which has more than a nod to the much-loved tartan effort worn between 1994 and Euro 96.

Lauren tweeted “The home kit is braw” while Kevin Wilson declared: “Best strip I’ve seen in a while.”

Andres Usher wrote: “Great design and a brand fresh new look with the tartan pattern.”
