Scotland squad: David Marshall comes in for Iain Turner

IAIN Turner has withdrawn from the Scotland squad with a recurrence of an elbow strain ahead of Saturday’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Czech Republic at Hampden, the Scottish Football Association has confirmed.

The Preston North End goalkeeper, who has been in several Scotland squads since 2007 but has never played, will be replaced by David Marshall of Cardiff City, who is expected to arrive at the Scots’ base on the outskirts of Glasgow this afternoon.

The former Celtic goalkeeper has not played for Scotland since George Burley’s last game in charge, a 3-0 defeat to Wales in Cardiff. He will be the third-choice goalkeeper in the current squad, behind Allan McGregor of Rangers and Matt Gilks of Blackpool.

Rangers striker Steven Naismith has recovered from a hip injury and returned to training. The forward picked up the injury during his scoring performance in Rangers’ 2-0 win over Aberdeen on Sunday.

Naismith said: “I just took a knock on the bone on my pelvis. Although it wasn’t anything serious, it is one of them that aches days after.

“But I had a bit of treatment since I arrived and it’s feeling much better.”
