Scotland defeat Uruguay to win Under-16s International Tournament

Scotland have been crowned champions at the Under-16s International Tournament following a 2-0 win over Uruguay at the Oriam in Edinburgh.

Celtic's wonderkid Karamoko Dembele stars in Scotland win

Goals from Heart of Midlothian’s Connor Smith and Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele secured the title, making it three wins from three.

Scotland began the tournament with an emphatic 7-0 defeat of Qatar, a game in which Celtic’s Dembele starred after coming of the bench. Brian McLaughlin’s young Scots then welcomed England to Forthbank Stadium on Thursday where goals from Connor Barron and Finn Ecrepont gave Scotland a fantastic victory.

It was a tight afternoon at the Oriam, Scotland taking 51 minutes to get on the scoresheet. A sumptuous lofted assist Barron saw Smith run through and eventually bundle in the opener.

The win and tournament was wrapped up in the 72nd minute when Dembele smashed in a penalty.
