School pals to lock horns in city derby

Edinburgh CITY lock horns with their Capital rivals,
Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale, at Meadowbank Stadium tonight, kick-off 7.45pm, in the preliminary round of the East of Scotland League Cup.

City manager Gary Jardine and Lothian boss Grant Carnie are former school chums who have played together for several different clubs, but now they are desperate to get one over on each other. “Games between us are always very close and I don’t expect it to be any
different tonight,” said Jardine.

City welcome back Ian
McFarland and Daryl Devlin from injury, although Ross Guthrie, Nico Gibson and Jamie Bain all miss out.

Carnie said: “For the first time this season I have a full squad of 19 players available so my problem is leaving players out.”

Stirling University have the chance to move within two points of leaders Spartans and into second place in the Central Taxis Premier Division when they face bottom club Tynecastle at the Gannochy Sports Centre.

Gretna 2008 will be without the suspended duo of Adam McMath and Dean Rea as they await title-challengers Whitehill Welfare who have Dayne Robertson suspended.
