No Zaliukas deal

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has admitted defeat in his bid to sign Lithuania centre-back Marius Zaliukas.

The former Hearts captain has failed to accept a contract offered to him by chief executive Craig Mather following a trial at Murray Park more than two weeks ago. (Scotsman)

Boris Pandza has also moved on to another club after being told by Rangers for four months that a deal was in the works.

The defender has now joined Polish team Gornik Zabrze, saying that he thinks he waited too long for a deal to emerge. (Daily Express)

Celtic on Sigthorsson trail

Celtic are chasing Ajax Icelandic striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, after he scored four times in eight games this season.

He is thought to be worth around £4m and Celtic are said to have made a number of enquiries about him. (Various)

Locke hails win

Gary Locke has praised his Hearts players despite needing penalties to get past Queen of the South in the League Cup.

Killie fans in new snub

Kilmarnock fans look set to snub two new ticket offers for Saturday’s Celtic clash after Michael Johnston drew criticism for previously offering Hoops fans cut-price deals.

Both sets of fans were angered by the move, but the latest offers which were made to appease supporters, are set to be shunned in protest. (Daily Record)
