Mark Warburton remains hopeful the truth will emerge about his exit from Rangers, Alex McLeish says he'd consider becoming a director of football, and Jamie Walker has revealed his disappointment at missing out on the Scotland squad.

Warburton on Ibrox exit

Mark Warburton insists there have been several untrue claims coming out about his departure from Rangers earlier this year. The club said in a statement that the reason for the exit of Warburton, along with assistant David Weir and head of recruitment Frank McParland, was that the pair had offered their resignations in order to join Nottingham Forest, a move which fell through at the time. Warburton, who finally became Forest boss earlier this week, hopes the truth will emerge at the end of the legal process. (Evening Times)

McLeish open to director of football

Having missed out on the job of becoming the next manager of Rangers, Alex McLeish says he’s interested in trying his hand at becoming director of football, but insists he’s not touting himself for the job at Ibrox. The Rangers board are still looking for candidates to fill the position after Ross Wilson turned down the opportunity. McLeish says he’s considered taking a more executive role in recent months. Walker on Scotland snub

Jamie Walker today revealed his disappointment at being overlooked for the Scotland squad after the finest season of his Hearts career to date. The winger resolved to use the international snub as motivation to prove he deserves a full cap after scoring 15 goals in 30 domestic games for Hearts this term. (Evening News)

Hibs to break season tickets record

Hibs are on track to sell a record number of season tickets after fans snapped up 2000 in the first fortnight of sale, it was revealed today. The “Born a Hibee” campaign – with prices again frozen for the 2017/18 season – has resulted in sales running at more than twice the rate of this time last year. The number of season ticket holders has grown by 46 per cent in the past year, reaching 11,300 by Christmas, but now Hibs are on target to beat the all-time record 11,500 mark. (Evening News)

McGhee receives six-game ban

Mark McGhee has been hit with a six-game ban for his antics during and after Motherwell’s 7-2 win over Aberdeen last month. The former Fir Park boss was sent to the stand and verbally attacked the fourth official after the match. He’ll have to serve the suspension if he finds another club, following his exit from Motherwell in February. (Daily Mail)
