Brendan Rodgers’ £10m Celtic decision

Brendan Rodgers will have to turn his back on a £10m fortune if he’s to accept the job of leading Celtic’s push for six-in-a-row.

The former Liverpool boss met with the Parkhead club’s majority shareholder Dermot Desmond in Ireland yesterday and was immediately presented as the No.1 candidate to become Ronny Deila’s replacement.

John Hughes on verge of quitting

John Hughes is on the brink of quitting Inverness after a bust up with his board over his budget.

The Inverness boss is unhappy after loan star Miles Storey’s was allowed to move to Aberdeen .

Hughes wanted the striker to secure the Swindon ace on a permanent deal but couldn’t compete with the offer on the table at Pittodrie. (Record)

Gers eye Inman swoop

Rangers have been linked with Crewe Alexandra’s Australian international midfielder Brad Inman.

Inman, who represented Scotland at youth level, and England Under-21s, is also a target for MK Dons, Bolton, Bristol and Nottingham Forest.

Collins in frame for Charlton job

Former Celtic assistant manager John Collins has emerged as a contender for the Charlton Athletic job.

It has been reported that the 48-year-old former Scotland international - who played for Fulham, Everton, AS Monaco, Celtic and Hibernian - is on a shortlist for the job. (South London Press)

Rangers hope new signing Matt Crooks will be fit for their pre-season tour of the USA.

The 22-year-old, like his Accrington Stanley teammate Josh Windass, will join the Ibrox club this summer. (Various)

Hibs and Hearts chase Southwell

Hibs and Hearts are reportedly among clubs eyeing a move for prolific striker Dayle Southwell.

Currently at Boston United, Southwell - who has netted 50 goals in two seasons - will be a free agent by the end of June, and is attracting interest from north of the Border.

Motherwell, St Johnstone and Partick have all made contact with Southwell’s agent, along with the two Edinburgh clubs - but Boston will miss out on compensation if the forward joins a Scottish side. (Various)

Dons miss out on Stewart

Aberdeen look set to miss out on Dundee striker Greg Stewart, but Rangers remain interested - even though there have been no bids for the 26-year-old according to Paul Hartley.

The Dons snapped up Miles Storey on a pre-contract deal yesterday but Rangers could still move for the former Ibrox youngster, who has a year left on his Dens Park contract. (P&J)

Maxwell snubbed Rangers switch

Rangers have missed out on the signing of Welsh goalkeeper Chris Maxwell, after the 25-year-old opted to join Preston North End from Fleetwood.

The former Wales youth international announced he would be leaving Fleetwood for a new challenge last week after over 120 appearances, and held talks with Preston, Huddersfield and Mark Warburton’s side.

Born in Wales, Maxwell also qualifies for England through his father and Scotland through his grandfather. (Lancashire Evening Post)

Charlie Nicholas has criticised Celtic strikers Carlton Cole and Colin Kazim-Richards, saying they bring nothing to the club who should, he says, focus on bringing through youth players. (Scotsman)

Foran open to loan move

Richie Foran would welcome a loan move away from Inverness next season.

The veteran midfielder Foran has been frustrated at his lack of playing time this season, with the 35-year-old making just 11 appearances.
