Rangers accept offer for midfielder

Rangers have accepted an offer for out-of-favour midfielder Matt Crooks, according to the chairman of Scunthorpe. However, Peter Swann has revealed that the bid has not come from his club, stating the League One side had their offer rejected. He says Scunthorpe won’t get into a bidding war for the player who made three appearances for the Ibrox club last season. (Scottish Sun)

Celtic-PSNI row

Police have distanced themselves from the decision to stop Celtic fans buying tickets for tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Linfield in Belfast. The Police Service of Northern Ireland issued a statement which caused surprise at Celtic Park. Celtic wrote on their Twitter account: “We are extremely surprised by this statement and the timing of the release. “This is clearly not our understanding of the situation.” (The Scotsman)

Aberdeen eye Arnason

Aberdeen are looking to bring back midfielder Kari Arnason to the club. The Icelandic international, who also plays at centre-back, was a fan favourite during his one season with the Dons in 2011-12. He currently plays for Cypriot side Omonia. Meanwhile, Aberdeen have not given up hope of landing Motherwell striker Louis Moult despite having a bid for the player rejected. (The Times)

Olivier Ntcham is ready to embrace his status as Celtic’s most expensive player of the past decade as he looks to swap the toil of Serie A relegation battles for the thrill of Champions League football. Hearts captain Christophe Berra insists the difference between the club he left and the one he rejoined could not be greater. The Gorgie side were beset by off-field problems under then owner Vladimir Romanov’s ruinous reign when the defender left Tynecastle for Wolves in a £2.5 million switch in January 2009. Dundee United have completed the signing of Jordie Briels on a one-year contract. The Dutchman earned the move to Tannadice after impressing in a trial period. Handling and Stanton told reality

Hibs boss Neil Lennon has told midfielders Danny Handling and Sam Stanton he can’t guarantee them first-team football at Easter Road. Once tipped for great things, the 23-year-olds have become peripheral figures at the Capital club, Handling having been blighted by injury for much of the past two seasons while Stanton has spent the past 18 months on loan at Livingston and then Dumbarton.
