Tierney to Anfield, Moreno to Parkhead?

Out-of-favour Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno could be offered to Celtic as a makeweight as the Reds ponder a move for Kieran Tierney.

Moreno was brought to Anfield from Sevilla by Brendan Rodgers in the summer of 2014 but made just eight starts last season as Jurgen Klopp preferred midfielder James Milner at left back.

Liverpool have already knocked back an £11m bid from Napoli for the Spaniard but could be happy for the 24-year-old to join Celtic if the club wants to pursue Tierney. (Various)

Could Celtic raid Leeds for Charlie Taylor?

Celtic haven’t given up hope of bringing Leeds defender Charlie Taylor to Glasgow.

The left back is on the hunt for a new club and Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen on tying up a deal for the 23-year-old, who tasted Scottish football while on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2013.

Both West Bromwich Albion and Burnley are keeping tabs on Taylor but it is thought that the lure of European football could hand Celtic an advantage. (The Sun)

Rangers face battle with Birmingham for Kenny McLean

Rangers face competition from Birmingham City in their pursuit of Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean, according to reports.

Linked with the ex-St Mirren earlier this summer, Rangers now appear to have stepped up their interest and have made a bid - but Harry Redknapp is also a fan of McLean, and could look to lure him south to St Andrews. (Various)

Bookies slash odds on Dembele joining Toffees

Bookies have slashed the odds on Moussa Dembele joining Everton amid rumours the Toffees are seeking a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who could be on his way out this summer with both Chelsea and Manchester United circling.

Dembele has been linked with a host of top clubs including AC Milan, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal but reports earlier this month suggested Everton could break their transfer record to bring the ex-PSG youngster to Goodison.

Everton have also been linked with Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud but with Lukaku reportedly having a £90 million price-tag on his head, the Belgian could yet be at Goodison come the start of the new season. (Daily Star)

Gers linked with Anita

Rangers have also been linked with former Newcastle United midfielder Vurnon Anita.

The 28-year-old, who spent six years at Ajax prior to signing for the Magppies, can perform in defensive midfield or at full back, and has four caps for the Netherlands.

He joined Newcastle in 2012, but left St James’ Park this summer when his contract expired - and Rangers could make an audacious attempt to lure the Dutchman to Ibrox. (Various)

Killie sign pair

Kilmarnock have bolstered their squad with the signings of Daniel Higgins and Alan Power - Lee McCulloch’s first signings of the summer.

Higgins, 19, who has 25 youth caps for Scotland, started his career at Celtic and joins on a two-year deal from Dundee while 29-year-old power joins from Lincoln City after making 251 appearances in six years at Sincil Bank. He also spent time at Nottingham Forest, Grays Athletic, Hartlepool and Rushden & Diamonds. (SPFL)

Murray: I’m no Cummings replacement

Hibs new boy Simon Murray has vowed to outshine his dad at Easter Road - but he warned fans not to view him as a like-for-like replacement for Jason Cummings.

Murray said: “[Neil Lennon] knows how I play so hopefully I can help the team, but I don’t know if you should see me as a direct replacement for Jason.

“I’m just here to do my best and score as many as I can. It would have been good to play with Jason - we would have worked well together, I think. But good luck to him at his new team; I just have to focus on my own targets.” (Evening News)

Saints sweat over defensive options ahead of Trakai clash

St Johnstone may have to face FK Trakai without skipper Steven Anderson.

The 31-year-old defender picked up an injury in a closed-doors game at Auchenhowie against Rangers, and with the centre half due to undergo a scan, Tommy Wright is sweating over his choices in defence.

Tam Scobbie has left for Dundee United, Brian Easton is also a major doubt for the Europa League clash and Keith Watson is due to play in another closed-doors match today. But Wright could have to call on some of the McDiarmid Park youngsters to fill in at the back if Anderson doesn’t make it. (The Courier)
