Michu hints at Celtic move

FORMER Swansea striker Michu has admitted he’d love to test himself at Celtic, after enduring an injury hell that saw him make a comeback with a fourth-tier side in Spain.

The 30-year-old, who turned out for Real Oviedo, Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano before moving to Wales, says he is now ready for a challenge - and was linked with the Parkhead club last season.

He said: “Celtic is a massive club both in Scotland and across Europe, a team that every player would love to play for. I saw that Brendan Rodgers had become the new Celtic boss. He is a great manager.” (Scottish Sun)

Weiss keen on Gers return

SLOVAKIAN ace Vladimir Weiss has admitted he’d love a return to Rangers.

Weiss, who had a loan spell at Ibrox in 2010, scored as Slovakia defeated Russia 2-1 at the Euros earlier this week.

Currently playing with Al-Gharafa in Qatar, Weiss - who has had spells at Bolton, Espanyol, Pescara, Olympiacos and Lekhwiya since leaving Manchester City - said: “The best time of my career was moving to Rangers on loan. I would love to go back. Everything was fine at City until Mancini came in. He never gave me a chance, and that’s why left.” (Various)

Barton set to miss US trip

JOEY Barton will miss Rangers’ pre-season trip to the United States after being given extra time off after winning the Championship with Burnley.

The 33-year-old’s name was reportedly left off a visa squad list sent to the US Embassy by the Ibrox club.

But the midfielder could have faced problems entering the US anyway thanks to his criminal record - which saw him denied entry during a similar trip with Newcastle. (Scottish Sun)

Alexander joins Dons

FORMER Hearts goalkeeper Neil Alexander has signed a one-year deal with Aberdeen.

Alexander, 38, who had performed a player-coach role for the Jambos, left Tynecastle last month after failing to agree a new contract.

Alexander said: “I’ve got the opportunity to come [to Aberdeen] and be involved in European football. I’m grateful to the manager for bringing me here and I am really looking forward to the European games and the start of the league campaign.” (Evening News)

Hearts eye Bell

HEARTS head coach Robbie Neilson could look to hijack Dundee United’s move for Cammy Bell after being linked with the 29-year-old goalkeeper.

Bell looks set to depart Rangers and Dundee United were reportedly leading the chase for the former Kilmarnock goalie.

But the chance to play regular football in the Premiership could convince Bell his future lies in Edinburgh rather than on Tayside. (Scottish Sun)

Jags bring in Azeez

PARTICK Thistle have snapped up AFC Wimbledon striker Ade Azeez on a pre-contract agreement after the 22-year-old striker’s contract expired.

The former Dagenham & Redbridge forward scored 14 goals in 95 matches for the Wombles. (Sky Sports)

Sydney set to hijack Inverness CT move for Ojamaa

SYDNEY FC could nick in at the last minute in a bid to convince former Motherwell forward Henrik Ojamaa to snub Inverness Caledonian Thistle and instead join the Sky Blues.

Ojamaa, who is a free agent after being released by Austrian second-tier outfit Wacker Innsbruck, has had spells at Legia Warsaw, Sarpsborg and Swindon since leaving Motherwell but has struggled to replicate his Fir Park form.

But Ojamaa could fancy a move to Australia despite Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s interest. (Various)
