Liverpool eye Kieran Tierney

LIVERPOOL have been linked with Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney - and Jurgen Klopp’s side could bid up to £10 million for the Scotland defender.

Tierney, 18, is on a shortlist of defenders along with the likes of FC Koln’s Jonas Hector and PSV Eindhoven’s Dutch international Jetro Willems.

Ronny Deila has already urged Tierney to stay ‘another three years’ at Celtic before thinking about moving on. (Various)

Boerrigter nets Celtic exit

CELTIC flop Derk Boerrigter has finally negotiated an end to his Parkhead hell, with reports the Dutch winger has agreed a pay-off with Hoops chiefs.

The former Ajax wideman has been training with Celtic’s development league side, and last played for the first team nearly two years ago.

The 29-year-old, reportedly signed for £3 million, started eight games in 25 and scored just one goal for Celtic. His last appearance came as a sub in a match against NK Maribor in August 2014. (Scottish Sun)

Roberts ‘will stay at Cetic’

RONNY Deila has insisted that Patrick Roberts will not be heading back to Manchester City this summer – no matter how well he performs for Celtic between now and the end of the campaign.

The 19-year-old netted his first senior goals at the weekend in the 3-1 defeat of Hearts and Deila wants the winger to be an integral part of his squad for next season.

The Norwegian is preparing for this summer’s UEFA Champions League qualifiers and he believes that Roberts could be an ideal player to have going into them. (Evening Times)

Dons ‘still fighting for title’, insists McInnes

DETERMINED Derek McInnes last night insisted his Dons are still in the fight for Premiership glory.

The Aberdeen boss was delighted as his troops came to within four points of leaders Celtic after hammering Hamilton 3-0 at Pittodrie.

The Dons rattled all three goals inside the opening 34 minutes and could have fired far more if it wasn’t for the heroics of Accies keeper Michael McGovern. (Daily Record)

El Alagui keen to fire Hibs to Premiership

FARID El Alagui is eyeing more goals for Hibs in the Easter Road side’s quest to return to the Scottish Premiership.

The ex-Falkirk striker netted a late, late equaliser for Hibs to earn them a point away to St Mirren, and the Moroccan hitman is keen to score more.

He said after the game: “We have a lot of good strikers, not just Anthony and Jason. There’s James Keatings, Chris Dagnall and myself. There’s quality and, I think, different attributes but it’s up to the manager who plays.” (Evening News)

RANGERS striker Kenny Miller admits the opportunity to secure the Championship crown in front of 50,000 fans at Ibrox is some solace for their Kirkcaldy collapse.

However, the Gers stalwart insists Mark Warburton’s men must find a way to remedy their ropey rearguard ahead of a season-defining fortnight for the club.

EX-Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that Celtic need to improve if they are to win against Rangers in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Celtic will take on Old Firm rivals Rangers in the semi-finals of the prestigious cup competition later this month, but Lennon reckons Celtic will have to up their game against a Gers side who will likely have won the Championship title by the time of the semi-final. (Daily Record)

Warren out of excuses for Caley

INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle captain Gary Warren believes his team-mates have only themselves to blame after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against Motherwell left the Highlanders’ top six hopes hanging by a thread.
