Lafferty snubs Hibs

Kyle Lafferty immediately endeared himself to Hearts fans after it was reported he no-showed for a meeting with rivals Hibs in order to sign on in Gorgie. After four days of negotiations, Lafferty became a Hearts player yesterday, signing a two-year deal. He was unveiled around the time he was supposed to be meeting Neil Lennon over on the other side of Edinburgh. (Scottish Sun)

Deila brands King ‘stupid’

Ex-Celtic boss Ronny Deila has called Dave King “stupid” for claiming Celtic have only won two-in-a-row because Rangers weren’t in the top flight. The Ibrox chairman insisted the ten-in-a-row battle is a competition fought exclusively between the two Glasgow sides, which Deila, winner of two titles in Rangers’ absence, believes is wrong. Celtic to sign Benyu

Celtic are poised to capture Kundai Benyu from Ipswich Town. The 19-year-old has attracted interest from Tottenham and West Ham but looks set to join the Scottish champions. The English youngster of Zimbabwean descent is out of contract and will be available to Celtic for a six-figure compensation fee. (Sky Sports)

McGinn to South Korea?

Niall McGinn could be set to leave Scottish football for South Korea after the ex-Aberdeen attacker was offered a lucrative deal by Gwangju FC. The K-League side are run by club president Ki Young-ok, the father of ex-Celtic star Ki Sung-yueng. Aberdeen had been holding out hope that McGinn would perform a u-turn on his decision to leave the club and sign a new deal. (Daily Record)

Caixinha targets two more

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha wants to recruit “roughly” two or three more players during the transfer window. One of those is expected to be midfielder Graham Dorrans, pictured, but the Portuguese coach would not be drawn on reports that Norwich City have accepted a £1.3 million bid from the Ibrox club for the 30-year-old. No intention of signing Anton

Brendan Rodgers insists there’s no desire to sign his son Anton despite the former Swindon Town midfielder getting a run out in Celtic’s friendly victory over BW Linz. The Parkhead boss said the reason for young Rodgers’ appearance was a combination of injuries to current centre midfielders, and a desire to help his fitness and match sharpness before the English football season begins. Linfield leave it late

Linfield remain favourites to secure a Champions League second qualifying round tie with Celtic after leaving it late to defeat La Fiorita at Windsor Park. The hosts struck in the 89th minute through Jordan Stewart to take a 1-0 lead over to San Marino for the second leg. (Various)

BTC verdict

Supreme Court judges will deliver their binding verdict on the Rangers ‘big tax case’ next Wednesday. The court has announced that a ruling on the Employee Benefit Trust saga will be issued in court, screened live on its website, at 0945 on July 5. The liquidators of oldco Rangers had an appeal heard over two days in March after the Court of Session ruled in favour of HMRC following two earlier tribunal defeats for the tax authority. St Johnstone manager  Tommy Wright has added to his thin defensive options ahead of their Europa League opener by bringing in former Port Vale left-back Scott  Tanser. With Keith Watson and Steven Anderson out of the first qualifying round first leg against Lithuanians FK Trakai through injury and Tam Scobbie departed to Dundee United, Saints were left with only three fit and experienced defenders.
