Rangers sign former Manchester United youth prospect

The Glasgow club have penned their fourth signing of the transfer window, with Jordan Thompson becoming the latest player to join.

The 18-year old Northern Irish midfielder confirmed the move via his Twitter account, writing “Over the moon to announce my signing @RangersFC. Honestly a dream come true for me and my family.”

Motherwell set to sign ex-Manchester City defender

Ian Barraclough is looking to improve the Motherwell back line, by signing 21-year old Kieran Kennedy. The English centre-half had come through the ranks at the Etihad before moving to Leicester following a loan spell.

The Foxes released Kennedy at the end of the season, who is described on their official website as “gritty centre half blessed with an outstanding ability” - and now the Motherwell boss is looking to sign him, after his inclusion on their pre-season tour. (Evening Times)

Roberto Martinez plays down Aiden McGeady transfer rumours

The Republic of Ireland winger had been rumoured to leave Goodison Park, with a return to Celtic being a heavily favoured option.

However, Everton manager Roberto Martinez stated that there are no plans to sell the 29-year-old, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury. 
Speaking in a press conference, Martinex said ‘“There has not been a conversation with another club about a possible transfer. What I am looking for is for him to be fully fit.” (The Irish Sun)

Ronny Deila eyes domestic treble and Champions League qualification

Speaking to the press before Celtic’s European tie with Icelandic side Stjarnan tonight, the Norwegian manager laid out his plans for a clean sweep this season with a treble victory and qualification for the Champions League.

“The goals are the same as they were last year. We want to get into the Champions League, we want to win everything in Scotland.” Deila said.

John Guidetti relishing Celta Vigo move

The towering Swede, who netted 15 goals in 35 outings during a loan spell from Manchester City to Celtic last term, opted for a switch to La Liga despite reported interest from Lazio, Udinese, Trabzonspor and Brentford.

Guidetti penned a five-year contract with Celta Vigo over the weekend and says he is ready to realise a lifelong dream by crossing swords with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia on a weekly basis.

The 23-year-old said: “This is a massive opportunity for me and a big test. This is the best league in the world and to play at the very highest level has been a dream since I was very young.” (Scotsman)

Alan Stubbs is hoping Andy Murray can help Hibs kick up a real racket next season, revealing the Easter Road club’s strengthening bond with the tennis ace.

Now Stubbs is heading up a three-man party which will travel to London tomorrow to again meet up with the 2013 Wimbledon champ, aiming to tap in to his preparations as well as those of his Davis Cup team-mates and back-up staff as they get ready for this weekend’s quarter-finals against France at Queen’s Club.
