Fraser Forster to get England cap vs Chile

CELTIC’S Fraser Forster is reportedly in line for his England debut against Chile on 15 November.

The Celtic stopper will replace Joe Hart as part of planned squad rotation by manager Roy Hodgson, as current first-choice Hart endures a poor run of form at Manchester City. (Mail)

King gets Rangers board OK

DAVE King has reportedly been given the all-clear by Stock Exchange officials to take a seat on the Rangers board.

The South Africa-based businessman was in a series of meetings with advisers and Alternative Investment Market officials yesterday, and the Stock Exchange said last night that King is now free to become Rangers chairman pending approval of the Ibrox board. (Record)

• Ally McCoist claims to have had no dialogue with Dave King.

King was in Methil for Saturday’s 4-0 League One victory over East Fife and manager McCoist said that they only “exchanged pleasantries” afterwards, and have had no contact since.

Craig Brown backs bigger World Cup

FORMER Scotland boss Craig Brown has given his backing to a proposal to increase the number of teams in the World Cup to 40.

Brown, who managed Scotland in their last major tournament appearance at France 98, said: “ “The more the better. I don’t care if it’s 50 or 40 nations, anything that would help us get back I would be in favour of.” (Scotsman)

Everton want Ryan Gauld

DUNDEE United’s Ryan Gauld is a reported transfer target for Premier League high-fliers Everton.

The 17-year-old midfielder is reportedly on the radar of Everton boss Roberto Martinez, whose side currently sit sixth in the English top flight.

Everton are reportedly also interested in United defender John Souttar. (Sun)

HIBS should not look to Hearts’ recent form ahead of their League Cup clash tomorrow, according to manager Pat Fenlon.

The manager said: “We have to make sure we are ready to play Hearts.

Cammy Bell: Rangers stint won’t keep me from cap

RANGERS goalie Cammy Bell does not think that playing in League One will unduly affect his chances of a run in the Scotland squad.

Bell, capped once for his country, is hopeful of a return to the squad for the friendlies against Norway and the USA next month.

Bell said: “I thought signing for Rangers would enhance my Scotland chances.

“Every other week I’m playing at Ibrox in front of 45,000.” (Herald)

Jorge Cadete could coach Celtic strikers

FORMER Celtic striker Jorge Cadete could be set for a return to the club as strikers’ coach.

The Express report that the Portuguese cult hero has been in discussions with Neil Lennon since the pair met at last year’s Scottish Cup final.

Cadete said: “Strikers need specific work and I would help them out.

“I am waiting and hope that I can do something to help.

“If they want me I am available. It would be a pleasure and honour to work at Celtic.” (Express)

• Dutch goalie Warner Hahn is aware of Celtic’s interest in him - but won’t move to the Scottish champions unless he’s Neil Lennon’s first-choice keeper.

Butcher calls for booking rethink

INVERNESS manager Terry Butcher has called the SFA to change the rule that has left two of his players carrying bookings from their abandoned Highland derby.

Ross Draper and Gary Warren were yellow-carded in the first half before the match was abandoned due to floodlight failure, but SFA rules state that those yellow cards are counted even though the game was called off.

Butcher said: “I’ll be pushing hard for a change in the laws as it’s ludicrous bookings in an abandoned game tally up.”
