Ferguson: I quit because of Clyde, not Rangers
Barry Ferguson insists that he resigned from his role as Clyde boss because of issues at the Broadwood club and not because of the managerial vacancy at Rangers. The former Gers midfielder quit the Bully Wee yesterday and Ferguson said: “This has been on my mind for a couple of weeks now and I feel it is in the best interest of all parties. But I want to make it clear my decision has nothing to do with the current situation at Rangers. It was purely about myself and Clyde.” (Daily Record)
Bell: Warburton wasn’t up to Rangers job
Former Rangers and current Dundee United goalkeeper Cammy Bell believes Mark Warburton wasn’t up to managing the Ibrox club. The Englishman departed Rangers earlier this month and Bell, who was his back-up goalkeeper last season, said: “As soon as he came under pressure, he struggled. It felt like he didn’t know where to go with the club. I think he had maybe taken things as far as he could. He didn’t like confrontation. A lot of demands were placed on the players to demand things from each other — which players should do. But there should also be a demand from a manager as well. I felt there were times when boys needed a rocket and it didn’t happen.” (The Sun – full interview here)
Celtic target Onyekuru hints at move

Hide AdNigerian striker Henry Onyekuru has dropped a big hint that he will be leaving his Belgian club Eupen in the summer. The 19-year-old is keen on a move to Glasgow and Celtic had a bid for him rejected last month. Asked by Belgian media if he is going to sign for the Parkhead club, Onyekuru said: “Hmmmm ... I cannot answer right now. I still have to talk to my representatives and we will make a decision in the summer. Sure, I’m going to leave in the summer. I have an agreement with Eupen.” (various)
Griffiths glad to be back for Celtic
Leigh Griffiths has put talk of a “rift” between him and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers to one side and admits he’s just focused on playing football after coming on as a sub in the Hoops’ 2-0 win over Hamilton. Reports have suggested that Rodgers is unhappy with Griffiths’ attitude and work-rate, but the striker said: “Everyone has been talking about if there is a rift between the gaffer and me after what he said, but it’s great to be back on the pitch, back amongst the boys and in the match-day squad.” (Daily Record)
Aberdeen ‘must keep eye on the ball’
Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean feels the Dons are in pole position for second place but knows he and his team-mates can’t rest on their laurels. “We’ve shown we are worth our lead,” said McLean, whose team are nine points clear of Rangers. “The gap is there, but we can’t take our eye off the ball and the run-in is going to be tough.” (various)
Nicholson blasts Hearts over display
Hearts midfielder Sam Nicholson has slammed his team’s performance at Partick in their 2-0 defeat and admitted nobody was fit to wear the jersey. He said: ““If I’m being honest, it was actually embarrassing. I just thought nobody really stood up to be counted for the team, We let everyone down, the usual stuff that’s said when stuff like this happens. It’s coming from the heart and it’s true.
