Falkirk seek to persuade David Weir to take Bairns hotseat

Falkirk’s search for a new manager could see David Weir take his first job in management, according to The Sun. The Bairns lost Steven Pressley to Coventry City last week, and have identified former Rangers and Scotland captain Weir as an ideal replacement. (Edinburgh Evening News, The Sun)

Meanwhile, former Falkirk player Russell Latapy has announced his intent to take over at the Bairns. Latapy, who spent six years at the club, is taking his European pro coaching licence and has previous managerial experience managing Trinidad & Tobago.

“I could offer something different to Falkirk and bring a brand of football that would excite the fans,” Latapy said. (Daily Record)

Sir Alex Ferguson in Dunfermline aid promise

Sir Alex Ferguson has pledged to help out cash-strapped Dunfermline by fielding a full-strength Manchester United team for a proposed friendly at East End Park in the summer. Pars legend Roy Barry met his old team-mate when visiting Old Trafford to watch United beat Everton 2-1 last month, and the former Dunfermline captain told a ‘Save Our Club’ meeting that the former Aberdeen manager would do all he could to help.

“He said, ‘It will take time to organise and Real Madrid in the Champions League are my priority at the moment, but I promise I will help Dunfermline out,’” Barry told attendees. (The Scotsman)
