No go for Rangers’ Serie A clash

Rangers have been left bewildered by a claim from Serie A side Crotone, stating the clubs were to play a friendly on 29 July. The club’s director Raffaele Vrenna Jnr announced the fixture, but the game would take place only 24 hours before Pedro Caixinha takes his men to Hillsborough for a friendly against Sheffield Wednesday. Hearts eye new number one

Former Hamilton Academical goalkeeper Michael McGovern could be the latest to be added to the Northern Irish contingent at Hearts, making the switch from Norwich City. The Tynecastle side are on the lookout for a new number one and McGovern, who came through the ranks at Celtic before spells with Stranraer, Falkirk, Ross County and Dundee United, is likely to no more than number two at Carrow Road after new boss Daniel Farke signed Angus Gunn, son of Canaries legend and former Scotland goalkeeper Bryan, from Manchester City. Ray Wilkins, who played for Rangers between 1987 and 1989, has questioned Moussa Dembele’s ability after he was linked with a move to Chelsea. The Englishman queried the quality of the Scottish league, making reference to Celtic’s dominance. (The Sun)

Scott Brown has declared himself fit to face Linfield in Celtic’s Champions League second-round qualifying tie on Friday. Nicholson hits out at supporters of capital clubs

Sam Nicholson hit out at supporters of both Edinburgh clubs after completing a move to Minnesota United. The winger spoke of “poisonous” social media insults and the abuse he received on the streets of the capital when out with family and friends. Craig Sibbald could net Falkirk £250,000 if he completes a move to Luton Town. The out-of-contract midfielder has been on trial with the Hatters, impressing during their training camp in Slovenia. Hibs go to Church

Welsh international Simon Church could be set to strengthen Hibs’ attacking arsenal. Lauchlan to sue EK over bonus row

East Kilbride’s former manager Martin Lauchlan is threatening the club with legal action, claiming to be due £20,000. The 36-year-old left the club at the end of last season, following the club’s play-off final loss to Cowdenbeath, denying the club entry into League 2. Logan signs on at Aberdeen

The positivity around Pittodrie continues to grow after influential right-back Shay Logan extended his contract to the summer of 2020. The Englishman had been set to leave last year but Derek McInnes staying put has encouraged the right-back to pen a new contract. (The Scotsman)
